If We Could Surround Ourselves With Forms of Beauty…

27 Jun

The third quote I’d like to share this week is by American President

Calvin Coolidge:

If we could surround ourselves with forms of beauty, the evil things of life would tend to disappear and our moral standards would be raised.  Through our contact with the beautiful we see more of the truth and are brought into closer contact with the infinite.

This quote is engraved high on a marble wall inside a mausoleum near my house.  I’ve searched the net for its historical setting, but cannot find it.

I believe Truth and Beauty conquers evil.  And I believe art is a vehicle for both, good art, that is.  As an artist, I bear the burden of harnessing Truth and Beauty in search for the Infinite…
